Fantastically fun stories
 for children!

Louise Bond
Children's Author

So incredibly happy that I can now officially call myself an author of children's rhyming book.

At school I was never one of the sporty ones, I couldn’t play a musical instrument and I wasn’t that keen on drama but I did always enjoy English lessons and writing. Now, quite a few years later, I’m in my early forties, I’m a wife, a mum of two and an author of a children’s book! That still feels odd to say but it’s true nonetheless.

In one of those English lessons I wrote a story about a bubble that went on an adventure. I’ve never forgotten it and so I decided to re-write it into a rhyming story and one where he had more adventures so that I could read it to our children. Now instead of reading Barnaby Bubble from a typed piece of paper I get to hold Barnaby Bubble the book!

Writing enables me to find some solace in an otherwise busy and hectic life and while I love creating characters and writing children’s stories it has also helped me to express how our family life has been affected and completely changed by Autism.

Getting Barnaby Bubble published and knowing that children are now enjoying his adventures gives me a wonderful sense of achievement. It has also had a bit of a surprise accomplishment too in that it has helped me to become a champion bubble wand blower so that I can keep up with my children’s ever growing requests to create more friends for Barnaby Bubble!

Barnaby Bubble.

Barnaby Bubble is my first book to be published and very close to my heart! Barnaby has been in the making for a long time, but following lots of enjoyable evenings reading it to my own children he is finally in print.

Look out for some clues in Barnaby Bubble to some of my other characters who I will hopefully introduce you too very soon in their own enjoyable rhyming stories.

Bedtime stories, my favourite time of day.

It's time for you to snuggle down,
and get all cosy in your bed,
we've had a fun and busy day,
but now it's time to rest your head.

Let's read your favourite story book,
under the glow of your night light,
let magical stories fill your head,
until it's time to say goodnight.

Stories

Although my stories are fun to read
sometimes they can be used to help children understand
and deal with real life issues and concerns.

A simple story can be a powerful tool.
I wrote this in the hope that it would help to create
more Autism Awareness for families like ours.

Autism In The Family

Some children can say how they're feeling,
when they're worried, anxious or scared,
but others cannot find the words,
leaving them frustrated and despaired.

These children are fighting battles,
in their minds each and everyday,
battles some people don't understand,
and choose to stay away.

Coronavirus is sadly affecting hundreds of thousands of people all around the world. When rainbows started to appear in windows of homes across the country we also proudly made one to show our support and to pass on the message to stay home, stay safe. There are now so many beautifully drawn rainbows and teddy bears of all shapes and sizes belonging to children who probably don't understand what is happening and why everything has changed. They are missing family, school and friends so this was a small way in which I could say thank you.

Thank you for the rainbows

All the days feel different now
with no school or friends to play
no family come and visit you
why do they stay away?

You’re missing Grandma’s kisses
and her soft and warm embrace
you’re missing Grandad’s silly jokes
and his smiley, happy face.
